Conformity- a random thought

Hi…

So I figured out- in a very awkward position- that I am very difficult to institutionalize. There are very few “institutions” I believe and conform to, these being marriage, love, and to a pretty minor extent education. You see the whole concept of non conformity as an attribute came to mind in my English- linguistics class. That society has some how driven us all to a point where we just want to rebel, get ourselves addicted to some man made toxic stuff, stop going to school and become “artistes.”  That word is my new pet peeve just by the way. Anyway I think in a way so many people of my generation scramble to be different, and creative and “Indie” and this in turn makes us conform, a little bit ironic isn’t it? Because what happens then is you start reading Hype and listening to songs whose lyrics you know sh*t about, and start smoking weed and writing poetry. THAT is a filthy trick the dark side of the universe is playing on you, because in fact you are kind of conforming to a different world. I figure we forget to live, and love what we are good at, and we forget to be original. THAT to me is what non conformity and being an artist means. Doing things not because they are trendy or cool, or because they make you fit in with the pot heads, or fashionistas, non conformity and independence to me means just doing what you like. Being absorbed In it all, and just liking. If you like numbers and accounting and stuff, and you do it as well as you possibly can, that’s beautiful, that’s art…

Just be one with what is within yourself, and not what is within the world, and not what the streets you walk deem cool… Just BE and I swear you… WE, will be great.

“Greater is He that is within you, than He that is within the world.” – John 4:4

Made to Love- Piece of art

SO my music video obsession has once again commenced, with my return to wordpress. Before I say my hellos and share the seemingly interesting events that took place during my absence, allow me to comment a little bit on this video.
Firstly, I have BEEN in love with Love in The Future since I first heard it, I’m certain I have listened to the entire album a good 12 times. This video was introduced to me last night, and somehow it was the driving force to my first post in almost 5 months. I say a lot of things about music videos, the art in them, how I can relate, the irony and so on… ALL there really is to say about this here is that it is worth having and keeping somewhere in your archive of arts. It’s one of the most beautiful videos I have seen, doesn’t over sensationalize the sex factor, nor does it do that for the love aspect of the song and anything else in between. IT is plainly and so beautifully just art!!! I adore the visual dynamics of the video. TO me it almost seems like that abstract art stuff I always see and fail to comprehend brought to life…. putting a form of art like that in context to me is really great. So check it out and as per usual I would LOVE to hear what you have to say. It’s GREAT to be back

Happy Birthday Hov.

today is the great Sean Carter’s birthday….

and as i watched a little bit of the one hour special on MTV Base a few hours ago it dawned on me that my non-comformist habits have pretty much restricted me from enjoying some of the greatest music ever made. I mean REALLY enjoy it, like the way i do when i listen to 340ml, or REason, or COmmon and Erykah Badu.

Daddy Blue, is actually a musicall and corporate genius. well.. he kind of does have to be, to have gotten that rich, not unless the “Illuminati”did it too. LOL!!! anyway, i had a quick run down of all the music he has made through the years, between his collaboration with Linkin Park on Encore, which at the time i thought was the smartest thing to ever happen to music, Song Cry and Death autotune among my favourite, i honestly have nooo idea why i have been trying so hard to deny that he is great.

AAAND then off course came Magna Carter Holy Grail, which thus far has blowwn my mind….

I can’t really blame my 6 or so years of complete disregard of his greatness of on nothing but musical immaturity. thats the only thing i can think of…

Having said that, i would really just like to say Happy Birthday to JayZ, he’s a great inspiration with a smoking hot wife, a blossoming empire and a couple of platinum sellers, a basketball team, and a GENIUS marketing strategy of the book Decoded, that i must now go and find because the advertising was AWESOME.

The urban culture and hip hop circle in Lesotho is growing faster than i anticipated. It goes without saying that we haven’t really been the loop bout much regarding urban lifestyle and trends. That’s all about to change…

i have high hopes, great ambition and a great load of work to do, all in an effort towards helping create a platform that will allow artists of different callibres, and young ones like me to gain recognition. Having gone without the means to voice our passion, and to educate the somewhat daft about the sheer beauty of urban life, of the art that is hip hop, and of the talents we hold individually has been a little frustrating…. VERY FRUSTRATING rather.

This website Created by Bokang Sephelane will be up and running before the end of this week, here we will go to great lengths in order to provide entertainment, knowledge and fun to our generations and even ones a little bit beyond.

om really excited to be part of the team with this bunch of pretty cool creatives.

2014 is about to be an amazing year.

check out our facebook page GOrilla and more on the actual website this weekend.

#Throwbackthursday… kinda

so its that time of the year again, the time where i waste away hours of my life watching reality TV and music videos…

its sad really, not the life i want for anyone, its great rest, but i have come to terms with the fact that i am growing more and more estranged to the idea of REST, not until everything is done at least.

Anyway, its also that time of the year when people are releasing single after single, it IS award season after all, i suppose all in a quest to score a yung performance nyaaana, maybe an award even. So while i waste away my days, i have grown particularly fond of a couple of songs… one of which is something i would NEVER listen to, but hey I’m all about expanding those horizons.

These songs are Tumi’s Hello Hello Kitty, Heavy K ft Professor’s Beautiful war (there it is), and Shugasmakx’s Wathinta thina…. and my most favourite has to be the new  Shugasmakx. if you don’t know by now, i like people’s drive, and the intricacy of their skill before anything… and well this brother has got it.

Also, he pulled a yung throw back on this one. There’s just something about music that has been done using great classic hits, or something. i think its a beautiful track all in all…this opinion is very subject to criticism, but i also think his lyricism is ON point. and i think he’s rocking the heck outa that hair cut.

aaand here are the links to the other music videos.

i think seeing as the year is about to come to an end its only right that i write a bit more about some old school music, or oldschool, turned new school… yea something like that. i will get to it as soon as possible.

Happy Holidays.

Culture Head Sessions 7th of november ( Joselyn)

so I have decided to rather post all the culture head session video individually, it allows me then to provide a quick commentary on each one…
This here is a song called Joselyn, that was one of my favourite parts of the whole session yesterday. Firstly because our in house rapper Kwanza, started singing, there was a whole lot of emotion in this from what I could gather, and his and Kwezi’s voice together sounds like magic really.
enjoy…
